A GUID (global unique identifier) is a 128-bit integer number which is used in Microsoft products to identify user accounts, documents, software, hardware, software interfaces.

GUIDs are used in database keys, unique identifier or whereever the unique identifier is needed. Also used in Microsoft products to identify the resources.

GUID stands for globally unique identifier which is created by Microsoft.

A 16 byte binary data type is used for GUID. This data type is used for identification of objects, programs and so on.
